Show details » Read more...I’m sorry to say that I was really disappointed with the course, since it didn’t achieved my expectations at all. All my supposed to be classmates canceled before the class started so I was alone with I didn’t appreciate because i got told 3 days before the class started. I’m sure they have students feeling happy with their school, unfortunately I wasn’t one of those students.
Show details » Read more...I have just returned from a one-week course in Lebanese Arabic at Skills Academy. I stayed with a local resident, Mrs Menassa, in Mansourieh district near the school. The apartment was well-equipped and nicely decorated, only a short taxi/bus ride away from central Beirut. My host was friendly, generous and welcoming, which made for good company. The free breakfast deal was also a nice touch, allowing me to sample local food such as man’oucheh and baba ghanouj. Both the director of the school Dr Nakhle and my teacher Mr Naanaha were extremely friendly and warm. They were ready to offer advice at any time, which made the prospect of life in a new city much less daunting. I benefited greatly from the lessons thanks to my teacher’s approach of supplementing formal instruction with music, local expressions and personal conversation. The lessons were altogether very fun, which motivated me to learn more, and by the end of the week I noticed a clear improvement in my level of Lebanese Arabic, both in speaking and understanding. Overall it was a fantastic week with fantastic hosts, and I loved getting to know this beautiful country with its friendly and hospitable people. I would wholeheartedly recommend Skills Academy to anyone thinking of studying in Lebanon.
Show details » Read more...I had booked on very short notice a week of private lessons with Skills Academy.
The whole team from the Home-stay, Teacher and Owner welcomed me and took very good care of me.
They were very flexible with the schedule so that I could incorporate other engagements, and it was possible to book additional lessons, as I saw that I had capacity to learn more.
The home-stay was wonderful, with a lot of chance to speak Arabic and very good food.
For the future I would recommend to clarify up front that the school is in Mansourieh, as there is another Skills Institute in Gemayzeh so there is potential for confusion.
Also the bus information was not up to date, so it took me a bit of time to figure out how to get into town.
I am looking forward to coming back to Skills Academy and continue my arabic studies in the coming months.
